Biography: Kenny Clevenger, a former graduate of Southside High School, returned to teach at his alma mater
in 1998. Since that time, he has instructed students in World History,
American History, English for all grade levels, Newspaper Production,
and Creative Writing. Currently, Mr. Clevenger teaches English 12, 12th
Grade AP Literature and Composition, and English 101 and 102 Dual
Enrollment in conjunction with Gadsden State Community College. Mr.
Clevenger serves as the Graduation Committee Leader, coaches the SHS Writers' Bowl Teams, and works
as a Freshman Class Focus Group Leader. In addition to these activities, Mr.
Clevenger has also served as an EEA Association Representative for sixteen years, has led the association as both Vice President and
President, and is now serving on the EEA Executive Board. Mr. Clevenger was named SHS Teacher of the Year in 2002-03, 2008-09, and 2013-14; likewise, Mr. Clevenger was named the Etowah County Teacher of the Year for 2013-14. He is a member of the Etowah Education Association, the
Alabama Education Association, the National Education Association, the
Association of Classroom Teachers, and the Alabama Scholastic
Competition Association. Mr. Clevenger, his wife, Brandi, and their
daughter, Ellie, currently live in Rainbow City.
