Consumer Credit/ Spending Project Date Due________________


  1. Conduct a Credit/ Spending Interview
  2. Interview 4 people who are married and are from 4 different age groups
  3. Ask them questions about their spending and credit habits.




18-25 year olds

25-45 year olds

45-65 year olds

65 and older.


Project Questions

  1. How old are you (birth date) and what year and age you married?
  2. Where did you get the money for your first house?
  3. Where did you get the furniture, etc. needed to set up your first home
  4. What did/ do you use credit for?
  5. How has spending changed during your lifetime?
  6. What can we purchase on credit now that you could not when you were a child?
  7. What opinion did your parents have about credit?
  8. What is the most expensive purchase you used credit for?
  9. What is the most inexpensive purchase you used credit for?
  10. What is your opinion about consumer debt?
  11. What do you feel the most important advice you could give me about credit would be?


How do you set up the project?


Page 1: Identify the person you are interviewing.


  1. Who are they? - Add pictures of the people
  2. How do you know them?
  3. Why did you choose them?


Page 2: Ask each person all of the questions and record their answers.


The project must be in a 3-hole paper notebook.


Option: If you choose to complete a video interview that we can use in class, an extra 10 points will be added to your project. Make sure you follow the “set up the project” instructions.


This project is worth 300 points.
