Please complete the form below if you want to take the PSAT at Southside High School on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. The PSAT is available for 10th and 11th grade students. Deadline to register and pay $18 (cash or check made out to Southside High School and delivered to Mrs. Clark) is Sept. 9, 2022.
The PSAT will not count towards your college admissions applications, but it is the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship. Some of the highest scoring students may win scholarship money, so while you shouldn’t stress out about the PSAT, you certainly shouldn’t ignore it either. Use the PSAT as practice for the SAT and ACT and an important guidepost on your college admissions journey.

All SENIORS will take the WorkKeys on Wednesday, October 26. Seniors should arrive at the normal school time. Tardy bell will ring at 7:45. Students will report to the lunchroom to eat a free breakfast when they arrive. Seniors may check-out after the test is over with a signed parent note. This is a required state test and an opportunity for seniors to earn a college and career ready indicator before graduation! We need 100% participation. They will be learning more about the WorkKeys this week.
All 9th, 10th, & 11th grade students will have the option to work remotely on Wednesday, 10/26/22. Students will be able to access all assignments through Schoology. Allowing our 9th, 10th, & 11th grade students to work remotely on this day helps to provide the best testing environment for our students. If a 9th, 10th, or 11th grade student would prefer to work at school on this day, there will be an area in the auditorium set-up for them to work on their assignments.
All are welcome to come and join our FCA organization every Thursday morning at 7:15am in the Learning Commons at Southside High School.
Each week, students enjoy a breakfast together along with a short devotional typically lead by students, coaches, or special guest.

About the PSAT:
The Preliminary SAT, also known as the PSAT/NMSQT® (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test), is a practice version of the SAT exam. You can only take the PSAT once per year, and many students take the test in both 10th and 11th grade. If you earn a high score on the PSAT your junior year, you could qualify to receive a National Merit Scholarship—$180 million dollars in merit scholarships are awarded to students each year. The PSAT is 2 hours and 45 minutes long and tests your skills in reading, writing, and math. Unlike the SAT, the highest score possible on the PSAT is 1520.

If for some reason you still have a chromebook from last year that did not get turned in, PLEASE BRING IT BACK ON TUESDAY. We will then run numbers, request our needs, and reissue Chromebooks to students. This process will most likely take the entire week to complete. They will not be penalized for not having a chromebook. Teachers are aware of this and are planning their lessons around students not having a device this week.

Players will ask for pledges before the Lift-A-Thon per pound. Example .10 cent per pound. Each player will record a max lift on deadlift, squat, and bench. After the three lifts the player will add together all max weights for a combined total weight. Example, 225 max squat + 115 max bench } 250 max deadlift = 590lbs. If this player had someone with a donation of .10 cents per pound they would pay out $59 to the player. Donors can donate any amount they want per pound or donate a lump sum. Each player will try to get as many pledges as possible. These donations will go directly to paying for Summer play dates, camps, and our trip to The University of Tennessee in June.
