Congratulations to the Class of 2020 Top 10 Students

 kyler 1. Valedictorian: Kyler Smith
Kyler  plans on going to Mississippi State to major in Computer Engineering and minor in a design field
“Your world’s going to change, so let it”

 dane  2. Salutatorian: Dane Klebine
Dane is going to Auburn University to study Materials Engineering. Dane doesn't have a specific job in mind, but materials engineering has a lot of applications and he feels sure his college experiences will lead him to find what exactly he wants to do.
 lexie  3. Lexi Rennhack
Lexi will be attending Birmingham-Southern College in the fall. She plans to major in Accounting and minor in Business.
 katie  4. Katie Leder
Katie plans on attending Troy University this fall with a focus on anthropology and archaeology. I hope to combine my love of history and science into a career that allows me to travel and constantly learn new things. As a result of my success in my AP classes, I'll start at Troy with a few college credits under my belt. I hope to obtain my bachelor's degree swiftly and go on to earn a master's degree, possibly even a  doctorate degree

Mistakes will be made during these four years and it's important to note that your actions after making these mistakes are what truly matter rather than the errors themselves. Your character, habits, and lifelong friends are established during your time in high school. Let the person that determines your future (you) be one that is honest, courageous, and proud. There will be times (usually around the week before spring/winter breaks) that assignments will pile up and stress will seem to consume your very existence. However, you must remember that in a few years you won't recall assignments such as Mr. Smith's Decade by Decade Review as painful as they may have felt in the moment. You'll remember talking about these assignments with your friends and when you managed to pull through at the very last second somehow. High school isn't just about striving to grow academically it's also about figuring out how to overcome obstacles in your own unique way.

 phuong  5. Phuong Phan
Phuong plans  to go to UAB, majoring in Biomedical Sciences, go to med school and become an internist. If things go the right way in life, later on I will become an investor for businesses.

Advice: Study at your own pace. Don't make everything a competition

 dominique  6. Dominique Garcia
Dominique Garcia plans to major in Theater and minor in English at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, AL this fall. She plans to pursue a BFA in Musical Theater and participate in the Honors College. Following college her goals are to to teach and direct theater programs in High Schools.

The longer you put yourself in a bubble the longer you miss out on something that could be so special. Do not be afraid to take the other path, to get made fun of, or to find yourself. These years are your years, so own them.

 chloe  7. Chloe Ledford
Chloe Ledford will double majoring in Economics and Political Science this fall at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Afterwords, she has plans to attend law school and later pursue a career in Constitutional Law with the United States government.

Our few short years spent at Southside High are too precious to take for granted. They all say make memories, make friends, make good grades.. but most importantly, make yourself proud. These four years can be the best or worst of your life and it all depends on your actions and perspective.

 tyler 8. Tyler Roberts
Tyler plans on attending Gadsden State Community College in the fall to complete his basic courses and then transfer to The University of Alabama to major in Business.

grace ann  9. Grace Ann Clontz
Grace Ann will be attending Spring Hill College in Mobile during the fall on a bowling and academic scholarship. My hopes are to become an optometrist and help the community, as well as join the Pro Women's Bowling Association to fuether my career in the sport.

A message I have for our underclassmen is to branch out. Don't be nervous to try new things and meet new people while in school

 rabin  10. Rabin Dhungel
Rabin plans on attending UAB. I plan to major in biology and minor in business.

Advice: Don’t be scared to ask questions!
