Mrs. Hanson

This is my 10th year of teaching! Time has flown by! This year is different than any other for me.  On May 24th, 2016, as I was wrapping up the school year, I received a phone call that changed my life.  My husband was in a very serious car accident.  He sustained multiple traumatic injuries and is currently going through rehab at a facility in Atlanta, GA.  So, this school year finds me away from my calling but only for a short time.  I serve a big God and He is working miracles out for my family.  My husband is very resilient and he is doing very well in his recovery!  I will miss the beginning of this school year but I hope to return in October.  I am available via email and will provide as much help and assistance as I can while I am away.

I am a 2003 graduate of Ashville High School and a life-long resident of Shoal Creek Valley in Ashville, just across the river.  I attended Gadsden State Community College and Jacksonville State University.  I earned a Bachelor's degree in 2007 from JSU in Secondary Mathematics.  I am currently pursuing my Master's degree in Secondary Mathematics from University of West Alabama.

I was not a strong math student in high school.  I did not enjoy it nor did I understand it until I had a very special teacher spend some time helping me see that I COULD do it.  So now it is my life's passion to do the very same thing for others.  I will believe in you and not give up on you unless you give up on yourself.  Everyone was not created to be a genius, but we can all understand mathematics and succeed at it if we continually believe in our own ability!!

I have a desire to be a life-long learner.  I am striving to invoke the same desire in my students.  Once the fire of learning has been ignited, nothing can put it out!
